A Swift Response from TripAdvisor
A few days ago, we wrote an article about some damaging reviews on TripAdvisor about a restaurant in Hvar Town, which had been enjoying a very good summer in terms of reviews and guest satisfaction. My first meal at Lucullus was one of the best of the year, and the waiter - guest interaction was the best on the island.
A series of very negative reviews from several first-time posters appeared in very quick succession, bringing Lucullus down from the top four in Hvar to a lowly 16. They were clearly the work of one vindictive person, and I wrote to TripAdvisor, sending them a copy of my article.
I am pleased to say that seven of these reviews have been taken down and, although I am sure it will take some time with the TripAdvisor system, Lucullus should be restored to its rightful position. Congratulations to TripAdvisor on looking at the situation and acting so quickly.
Another report has surfaced on another website, which claims the chef (who has not cooked there for two years) spat in the face of the guests, took their credit card and charged them 1,000 years, and claims they were assaulted. It is such a ridiculous article, it isn't worth filing a complaint.
I am not a big fan of review sites, as they are so open to manipulation in terms of planted reviews, both by owners and people with a grudge, but I am certainly heartened by the prompt action of TripAdvisor in this case.
