From the Napa Valley to the Tomić Winery: A Californian Wedding in Jelsa

The phone is ringing a lot recently and I am grateful for call screening. There are a couple of shady characters I would like to avoid and the call display gives me some options. An American number is always interesting however, and I picked up to meet Ben and Justina from the Napa Valley and Santa Barbara respectively.
I had come across their website a while ago - a young couple who fell in love with Hvar on their first visit five years ago. They decided to get married and chose Jelsa, specifically a vineyard of my next door neighbour, Andro Tomić, with catering by Me and Mrs Jones. I emailed them to wish them well and invited them for a beer when they arrived.
We met this evening in Hvar Town and had a very pleasant beer at Sidro. A very nice couple, totally in love with the island, with all their friends pronouncing them crazy for getting married so far away.

It is amazing how many weddings are happening on the island, a growing tourism section that is not so well publicised at the moment, but while the majority of the weddings take place on Palmižana, Stipanska and with Sunčani Hvar, not so many happen in Jelsa.
Ben and Justina were good fun and keen for suggestions. I gave them a list and then walked them over to Lucullus, where they will be dining with 12 friends and family tomorrow night before heading off to Pink Champagne for the amazing cabaret show.
Good luck to you both and I hope you have a wonderful day and life together.
As for me, on the way out through the square, I came across the HRT film crew I will meet in Jelsa tomorrow for a prime time show next week - details after the shooting. We are off to Munich for a few days, so Total Hvar blogging services may be somewhat reduced.
