Going Global: Total Hvar Promoting Hvar via Gap Travel

Some time ago, the tourist board asked me to help them with some promotional text in English, which I did for free. Happily. This is the text I prepared and which went out on some promotional Hvar literature:
"Imagine an island with a wine tradition dating back 2,400 years, whose sun-kissed vineyards enjoy the most sun in the Adriatic and produce Croatia’s only Grand Cru.
Imagine an island whose cultural heritage includes the 400th anniversary of the oldest municipal theatre in the world in 2012, and whose Franciscan monastery turned 550 last year.
Imagine an island whose beaches are famous around the world, one of which was named as the world’s best naturist beach by CNN in 2011.
Imagine an island which boasts the oldest organised tourism in Europe, a tourism based on its healthy climate and most hours of sunshine in the Adriatic.
Imagine an island whose celebrity draw in 2011 included Prince Harry, Beyonce, Roman Abramovich and Giorgio Armani.
Imagine an island famed for its aromatic nature, whose lavender heritage is celebrated every year, and whose olive oil is among the best in the world.
Imagine an island with a first rate range of activities, including sailing, kayaking, scuba diving, rock climbing, hiking, cycling and deep-sea fishing.
Imagine an island whose nightlife is the envy of the Adriatic, with its Full Moon parties and nightclubs providing the liveliest entertainment on the Croatian coast.
Imagine an island with access to the Pakleni islands, a collection of emerald jewels opposite the main town, which offer beaches, privacy, nature, fine dining and the most stunning sunsets.
Imagine an island with high quality hotel accommodation, whose accolades in 2011 included Fodor’s Top 100 and Sunday Times Best 100 Hotels in Europe.
Imagine an island named as Lonely Planet number 5 destination for 2012, Conde Nast’s number 8 Island in Europe, and Vecernji List’s Top Destination in Croatia, all for 2011.
There is no need to imagine. The island is Hvar."
It is great to see the text appearing elsewhere on the web, as the Hvar Tourist Board continue the not unpleasant task of promoting Hvar around the globe, and we were delighted to be published in the Gap Travel Guide recently, with 11 pretty good reasons to visit Hvar.
