Hvar Carnival 2012: Jelsa Children's Parade

Light rain did little to dampen the mood of the children of Hvar this morning as several kindergartens assembled in Jelsa for the annual carnival parade. Starting off at the Jelsa kindergarten on the waterfront, the children paraded through the park before entering the main square to an enthusiatic welcome from waiting parents.

Jelsa's children were dressed as a starry night, who were a lot quiter than the Stari Grad Lancuni, while Svirce rurned up as green aliens. Vrboska was full of Pinocchios, Vrbanj appeared as butterflies, and the kindergarten of Hvar Town was a colourful meadow consisting flowers, ants, grasshoppers and snails.

Each kindergarten gave a performance on the stage and then balloons were released into the square from above. To watch the children arriving on the square, watch the video below. Tomorrow sees the last day of carnival action before the beginning of Lent, with the adult's carnival scheduled for the afternoon.

The "Maskare" Assembly on Jelsa's main square - Pjaca is an absolute delight for children, Nannies, parents and viewers - this event is overwhelmed with laughter, hapiness, maybe a cry here and there, but definetely the place to be, do come and experience this Everyone's a Winner Event!
