Hvar in History: 1947 Rowing Regatta

Last year the mega-yachts of Bernie Ecclestone and Roman Abramovich were among those that adorned the Hvar waterfront, while further out to sea, but very much in view were the daily cruisers and their hundreds of passengers.

It is a far cry from the scenes of 65 years ago in the water in front of Hvar Town. A great picture from the 1947 rowing regatta - a sport still very much alive today, particularly in Jelsa - from the excellent Old Postcards and Photos of the Town of Hvar Facebook page.
