Lavanderman The Movie: Stari Grad on Monday

The Boss and my mother-in-law popped off for an evening to the summer theatre in Jelsa a couple of years ago for the world premiere of a film about a local hero called Lavanderman. They had bought tickets in advance and were keen to get there on time. I thought they were nuts and that there would be hardly anyone there.

It was a total sell out. Not only that, everyone was talking about it for days in the town, but all agreed that I would understand about 3% as a foreigner. The film made the national news and has gone on to be a cult hit. And this Monday, there is the chance to catch it for only the third time on the island, once more at the summer cinema in Stari Grad, kick off 21:00. There is plenty of other action after the film too, as Dalmacijaland (where you can buy tickets for 40 kuna) posted on Facebook:

As I posted earlier today, there is also plenty going on at the Dalmacijaland gallery, with the Dick Long exhibition opening last night. It was good to catch up with Dick's creator Štef Bartolić last night, as he explained the success of Dick's character, which was included in an impressive 106 issues of Croatian Playboy. The younger generation (above) seemed more interested in the contents of the magazines...
