More Quality Hvar Natural Products Available at Caric Wine Shop
There is one shop I really want to succeed this summer, and not just because Ivana Krstulovic Caric, President of the Hvar Winemakers Association, is a good friend. The Caric Wine shop, located just off the main Hvar waterfront at Riva 17, behind Mama Leone restaurant, is much more than a wine shop and is providing an invaluable sales window for some of the island's smaller producers who simply cannot afford to have a retail outlet in the island's main town.
There is plenty of wine of course, and you can browse, taste and buy the Caric wines. I am a big fan of the Plavac Ploski, a nice meaty red from the Plavac Mali grape variety.
But there are plenty of other things on offer, including high quality olive oil.
And what would a visit to Hvar be like without some island olives?
Some quality fish products.
Delicious fig cakes.
And (below) one of the healthiest and tastiest snacks I have tasted, called Ivanov Kruh (John's bread), whose ingredients include honey and carob, all from the island.
A very friendly shop with some excellent island products that you might otherwise miss. Hvar: An Insider's Guide will also be available at the shop from Thursday. It is a pleasure to promote the shop, as it is for me one of the best examples on the island of local businesses working to promote the very best Hvar products from small producers. I encourage you to visit the shop and support the initiative. For the lastest addtions to the shop, why not follow Vina Caric on Facebook?
