Restaurant of the Day: Antika in Stari Grad
The back streets of Stari Grad are filled with hidden treasures and little crannies to explore. Around every corner there is some new picturesque facet, and the oldest town in Croatia offers plenty to the curious tourist looking to enjoy 2,400 years of history and architecture.
A wonderful way to combine the history and beauty of old town Stari Grad is to combine it with a meal at Antika, which we earlier named perhaps Hvar's quirkiest restaurant (see photo blog here).
During the summer months, Antika offers some of the most picturesque outside dining space on Hvar, as tables appear among the flowers and stone of Stari Grad's prettiest square, Škor.
The square is a very pleasant place to while away the afternoon or evening, situated just metres away from the restaurant itself, where you can also sit inside watching the chefs prepare the unique menu, whose food won first prize at the Na Bon Pro food festival last month.
Or come for a drink in one of Stari Grad's most hidden - and most chilled - places, the small terrace above the bar, where you can enjoy a cocktail or two away from the crowds. At the forefront of all is your host, Stari Grad icon Boško, whose warm welcome and wealth of knowledge about the island have made Antika a firm favourite among regular visitors to Stari Grad.
