Road Improvements on the Kabal Peninsula near Rudine

Kabal Peninsula Road

One of Hvar's lesser discovered places in the centre of the island is the Kabal Peninsula, the northern piece of the island north of Stari Grad.  Its beaches are much less populated and it is a haven for nature, with only two small settlements - Velika and Mala Rudina - at the foot of the peninsula.

A rough track leads through pristine forests to the tip of the peninsula where Tito's Tunnels can be explored.  Access around the peninsula is set to improve as the Croatian Forests Association are sponsoring improvements to the existing road, as well as opening up access to some of the forests from the bay of Zavala (not to be confused with its better-known cousin on the south of the island) to the top of the Kabal Peninsula.  The works will include a branch to Smociguzica bay.

Read more about the undiscovered charms of the peninsula on the link below, and check out one of the most relaxed inland rentals on Hvar - the high quality renovation of Rudina Retreat in the video slideshow.
