Stari Grad Food Festival Opens the Season and is Won by Antika

A very pleasant evening was had by all on the Feast of St Antonio, as Stari Grad officially marked the start of the 2012 season with the 6th Na Bon Pro Food Festival, which was attended by nine restaurants from the town.

The event, sponsored by Geneza Hotels, the Town of Stari Grad, Stari Grad Tourist Board and Small Business Association of Spliksa-Dalmacija, with support from the Hvar Wine Association (in the form of wine from the Caric and Tomic wineries), was introduced by media sponsors Maja Zrnic from Radio Megamix Hvar and Total Hvar.

The event, which took place at the Gradski Restoran near the court was well attended, as guests looked out on a waterfront full of private boats.

Entrance to the event was 30 kuna, with guests overlooking the new harbour, with the theme of the evening's cuisine 'authentic Hvar cuisine from traditional recipes.'

Man of the moment was Bosko from Antika, who stole the show in terms of awards (results below).

Prizes for starters were as follows:

1. Antika

2. Stari Mlin

3. Pinetta and Ermitaz

Prizes for the main course were as follows:

1. Restoran Vala

2. Stari Mlin

3. Antika

Prizes for the desserts were:

1. Antika

2. Kod Barba Luke

3. Jurin Podrum

The judges, including charismatic vintner Andro Tomic from Jelsa, were diligent, and named the overall winners as follows:

1. Antika

2. Stari Mlin and Kod Barba Luke

3. Pinetta, Jurin Podrum and Restoran Vala

Congratulations to the winners, and a fine gastronomic evening, with some excellent Jazz from Jazzy Gents from Split. Let the season in Stari Grad officially begin!
