The Best Value Meal on the Pjaca? Lasagne at Mizarola

Hvar Town is very competitive when it comes to restaurant trade, and nowhere is this truer than on the main square. There are four restaurants vying for trade, side by side, and nothing to choose between them - on the surface at least.

The first thing that gives Mizarola the edge for me is the friendly welcome of patron Marino, a veteran of the Hvar restaurant scene for the last fifteen years. Hustling for business in a competitive market while retaining charm and humour takes some skill, something that the staff at Mizarola have in abundance. 

The second thing that sets Mizarola apart is the food. I had eaten there once before, a delicious gnocchi in Gorgonzola sauce, before a friend pulled me in last week for lunch, saying I had to try the lasagne, which he ordered for both of us.  

It was hot, it was good, it was full of cheese, and it was a portion for a whole family. When we enquired, Marino cheerfully told us that there was a full 500 grammes inside. It was probably the best lasagne I have ever had. It took a while, but I managed to finish, which was more than could be said for my friend, who asked for - and got - a doggy bag for his wife.  

I didn't see the bill and we both went off happy. Having just installed Zzzzapp! at Mizarola, I went back to discuss some offers with Marino this afternoon. While there I had a look at the menu to find out just how much that lasagne - which could probably feed three people - actually cost, and was astounded to learn it was just 55 kuna. In Hvar Town. In the main square.

Not only that but Marino has just launched his first Zzzzapp! offer, 10% off dinner for diners before 19:00. The food was great, plentiful and the ambiance very friendly. If you have a family and are looking for a filling and affordable family meal in a great setting, look no further.
