Unique Hvar Rentals: Have an Abandoned Village all to Yourself!
With the New Year underway, thoughts will be turning to a summer holiday on Hvar, and now is the time to start looking into booking accommodation. There is a wide seletction of quality rentals available on Hvar, and specialist agencies such as Hvar Touristik have about 300 Hvar properties to choose from, and while we will be featuring a selected number of rental properties this season, we could not do the job as well as them, so check them out.
There are some interesting rentals avaialble privately, and we will be featuring some of these, and we begin with a very interesting option for people looking to get away from it all and commune with nature in an authentic stone background: the lovingly renovated Murvica stone house in Humac.
Humac is one of the most special places in Dalmatia, an abandoned shepherd's village with an atmosphere and setting which is unique. Totally abandoned, it is a magical place to walk around and take in the peace of natural Dalmatia.
There is an excellent restaurant, Konoba Humac, which is open from June to September, from where tours of the nearby Neolithic Grapceva Cave begin in the summer (or by arrangement), and there is one renovated house at the front of the village, which is available for rental.
Part of the family property of Djordan Gurdulic from the very fine Murvica restaurant in Jelsa, the property has been restored with great attention to detail, and offers a very comfortable stay depsite being located in a village with no electicity or running water. More details of the property will be posted in the coming weeks, but click on the video to get a sense of the atmosphere and raw beauty of Humac and the Murvica property.
For more information and to book, visit the Murvica website, or pop in for an excellent meal combination of Dalmatian flair and German efficiency offered by Djordan and his German wife, Angelika, at the Murvica restaurant on the edge of Jelsa's old town, where you can also taste and purchase an excellent selection of local products for souvenirs (apologies in advance for the less than stable camera work!).
